making Oreo truffles.

Ryan has been asking me to make these all Christmas Season and I haven't given in...until last night. I kept seeing the pictures of them flying around Pinterest and figured while we were grocery shopping I might as well get the stuff...2 hours later, we were stuffing our faces with Oreo truffles. So here is how I make my Oreo truffles--a recipe from Ryan's sister.

Oreo Truffles

1 package Oreo's
1 package cream cheese
1/2 bar Almond Bark

1. Set out the cream cheese to room temperature.
2. Mash Oreo's into fine pieces/crumbs. I just use a spoon in a big bowl to do this but I know there are several gadgets out there that will do this too.
3. Combine Oreo's and cream cheese with mixer until completely blended.

4. Form the mixture into small balls and place on cookie sheet

5. Refrigerate for an hour
6. After the cookie balls are firm, melt the almond bark to dipping consistency. (I usually do this in the microwave, though I know my grandma would die knowing I wasn't using a "double boiler")
7. Dip cookie balls in almond bark and place on wax paper to dry. If you want to sprinkle them, do it while they are still wet.
8. Let harden, and enjoy!

getting married in 20 days!

I’ve procrastinated long enough that I think this will be the last  official “Wedding Update” post I have! We’re now mid-December and just 20 days out…aka, I need to get busy doing instead of busy writing. So here is everything we have gotten done in the last month or so!
Warning: this is long.

Ryan’s Ringü
we ordered this about a month ago and got to pick it up a couple weeks ago. I don’t have a picture of it yet but it’s pretty neat.

Rings sauteredü

We dropped off my ring last weekend to have it sautered, sized, and a diamond replaced. So I have been ringless for a week+ now :( but will get it back Friday!

I had ordered this a LONG time ago and it finally came in about a week ago. It is definitely my favorite accessory and I plan on wearing that baby alllllll night. I just love it and think it’s perfect and made for me.

I finally got this last week (earrings), but I still don’t have my bracelet. L

We had a final sit-down lunch with the people providing our alcohol (J&C’s) and got everything finalized. We ordered lots of different kinds of beer—even Miller Lite—WHO drinks Miller Lite?! And also lots of liquors; Jack, Captain, Jose, BV, a few vodka’s, etc. You know me though, we also had to get stuff to make my Sex on the Beaches, Bloody Mary’s, and margaritas too. How will I decide which to drink?! Just kidding, I actually don’t plan on drinking much, if any. But it’s there if I change my mind and there for everyone else.

Catering ü
I had another consultation with our caterer today also. We went over menu items again, touched base on tables/chair rentals, etc. She is really awesome and I totally trust her, which makes my life MUCH easier.

We (kind of) got this finalized just today. We had our last meeting with Father Mike about 2 weeks ago and were given lots of homework to take home and read. We ended up picking out our vows and readings during this time. Then today, we met with him again and got it all approved and went over ceremony order. The only real thing left to do for this is to talk to our organist and pick out music selections. What did you guys use?! Does anyone care to share?? I am clueless!
Dress alterationsü
I am in the middle of this as we speak! I think I’m on about my 5th one now—picky bride, I suppose. Or just smaller chested than I fake…however you want to look at it. J The seamstress has done wonderful though and every time I see it looks more beautiful than I remember.  I’m so excited to get my whole ensemble put together and on me—I hope it’s as pretty as I’m envisioning.

Rehearsal dinnerü
Today I finalized the menu (via email), gave a final headcount, and picked out table clothes and linens. I’ve been busy today, can you tell?!

ll the guys got sized and we sent in all the measurements last week.

Done, done, done. This was certainly a process! Listen, I know some girls know EXACTLY (ahem, Cassie) what kind of flowers they want but I seriously had no idea. Like I knew I wanted white and rhinestone accents, but that’s about all the more I knew.  I literally was just looking at books of flowers and asking what each kind was called and trying to picture them all in a bouquet in my head. Naturally, I liked THE most expensive one and it is the smallest…meaning it would take lots to fill my bouquet. I finally decided I wanted it anyway (just in smaller quantities) and just today she told me that they haven’t been blooming very nice this winter and I may not be able to use them. (ha!) I basically just said “Ok, pick something else for me!” She has been absolutely awesome in this whole process though and today when I went to check up on some things I was MORE than impressed, so I know my bouquet will be beautiful no matter what. I definitely made the right decision in florists.

I know I’ve mentioned this before, that I will be wearing my Grandma’s garter but I also bought 2 other ones…one that is a little more “me” but I ordered two of it. I figured I would want one to keep, and I also need one for Ryan to toss. So I’m three garters deep now. J I won’t be wearing all three at once though, obviously. I will wear mine and my grandmother’s during the ceremony, slip them off in the limo and slip on the toss one instead.

Marriage Licenseü
we applied for this today and it will be ready to go by the end of the week!

Hair trialü
I’m not sure when I last updated you on this but I had this awhile ago and absolutely loved it. No second trial needed.

Flower girl flowersü
I sent Ryan’s dad in search of these today…can you imagine?!  He literally called me 4 times to make sure he was getting the right thing and I think I made him a nervous wreck when I couldn’t decide between white and silver J (Ps-we can’t use real flowers in the church)
Honeymoon Packingü
Ok, ok, call me crazy but we have already begun this. Mainly because our guest bedrooms are CONSUMED with wedding stuff and I was afraid our suitcases would get lost. Ok, thats a lie. But seriously because we have had to buy a few things (power adapter, water shoes, etc) and I have nowhere else to put them except a suitcase. And because, lezzbehonest, I'm not going to wear my swimsuits or sundresses anytime soon. And well...because I'm excited.

Here are a few things that needed to be done like yesterday still need done:
  • Round up the rest of our wedding party gifts
  • Get some small things for reception/decorations I've  yet to buy...specifically small frames. Minor, huh?
  • Pick up marriage license
  • Put together a picture list for photographer
  • Find rehearsal dinner outfits
  • Put together song list for DJ
  • Write and send in program information to be printed
  • Thank-you’s—I want to use a picture on these so there’s not much I can do with them yet except get the wording written but I'm having anxiety about not being able to work on them yet. What is wrong with me?!
  • Have my dress/veil pressed
  • Finish wedding party "How I Know's" for table at reception
  • Finish honeymoon packing/buying

So for now you can find me hustling and bustling around town, on the phone making phone calls, or with my head burried in a pillow because I can't believe this is all happening in the NEXT 20 DAYS. I-cannot-wait.

ps-I know this seems pretty detailed, long, and probably crazy, but seriously, this blog is for yours truly and I want to remember ALL the details of my crazy life and this crazy wedding planning. It's nice I can share it all with my readers and I know some people like reading it, but at the end of the day, it is for me. And that's why I put so much time and details into most posts.

Over and out. :)

16oz noodles (ziti works best!)
2 jars of alfredo sauce (we use Ragu Roasted Garlic)

1/4 cup parmesan cheese (grated)
15oz ricotta cheese
2 T garlic powder or 2 garlic cloves minced
2 eggs
8oz sour cream
3 chicken breasts

1. Cook and drain pasta as instructed.
2. Boil chicken breasts until thoroughly cooked and then dice into cubes.
2. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
3. Lightly grease a 13x9 baking pan
4. Mix all ingredients except the mozzarella cheese together in a bowl and beat with fork until smooth
5. Spread mixture into greased baking pan and coat with mozzarella.
6. Place in oven and bake 30-45 minutes or until golden brown on top
7. Remove from oven and enjoy! :)
**baker beware: this recipes makes A LOT

And there you have it!! We paired ours with iceberg lettuce and dressing, but if you're into the the whole carb thing, I'm sure some garlic bread would be wonderful with it too! :)

If any of you try this out, let me know how it turned out!! Or, if you have a different recipe for something similar, please share that also--I love new trying new recipes!

tackling Pinterest, one bottle of wine at a time.

Last night, a friend and I had our first ever "White Girl Wednesday" and decided to tackle some Pinterest projects and a few bottles of wine.

We exchanged messages all week trying to decide what pins we actually wanted to make (besides washboard abs) and came up with a few things. We hit the craft store on Tuesday and by Wednesday we were prepared.

So what did I make?

Well, we made these wine bottles empty...

But in the midst of the giggles, wine drinking, and chatting (and being in complete wedding mode; come on, its only SEVEN weeks away!) I actually did make something. I saw this on Pinterest one day and immediately knew I wanted to make it and would totally use it. So, I made myself a cupcake stand.

4 mirrors which I bought at Hobby Lobby
E6000 glue
paint brush
candle stick holders from Dollar Tree.

1. I flipped the mirrors over and measured each, marking it with a pencil exactly in the center.
2. I then put E6000 glue (this is where I used the small paint brush) on the top of the candlestick and glued it to the marking on the bottom of the mirror.

3. Once glued down, I used my paint brush and went around the edges, really sealing the candlestick in place
4. I did this to all four mirrors and had to wait for them to dry.

5. Once dry, I combined two at a time, doing the same thing as above, only I didn't use the extra glue around the edges.
ps-to mark the top of the mirrors I used lipliner

6. Once those were dry, I combined the two pieces and voila!

I am even more in love with this stand than I thought I would be. I was even thinking that just one smaller unit (the smallest mirror and stand) would be a cute bedroom or bathroom decoration to hold something?! Any thoughts?

I will TRY to get my friend to write a guest blog post for me on her project, but in case she doesn' is what she made. They are these cute little rocks with pictures, letters, etc. that she put behind them and then turned them into magnets. This is the one she made for me! Isn't it cute?!

So what do you guys think?? Do you think it turned out ok? Better yet, is it wedding approved?!

...showing you our wedding invites. {finally}

I can finally show you all my invites!! I was waiting for them to make it to their final destination before I put up pictures of them, but I think they all got to where they were going. So here they are!

I am absolutely in love with them. They are so wintery, and exactly what I wanted...
It is hard to tell in the picture, but the blue envelope is very shimmery and changes color in the lighting...

The silver is the same way. Very shimmery! (The RSVP is actually a double-sided stamped postcard, so all they have to do is fill it out and slip it in the mailbox.)
And aren't these stamps gorgeous? When else could I ever use these?!
So there they are.

I hope you all have a wonderful week!!

September & October's Wedding Planning Update

Well, well, I am yet again scurrying at the end of the month to give you all an update on how the wedding planning is coming along and what we've gotten done these last couple months.

So, without further ado....I bring to you....(Name that song?!)

First and foremost, the most important part of this entire process got completed just yesterday! We got invitations sent out!! I cannot even begin to tell you the amount of stress this takes off my shoulders; seeing all those invitations leave my house forever was such a sigh of relief! I had to round up a few troops to get them done, but I sure have some wonderful people in my life who were willing to give up several of their evenings to help me (major props to the bestie who helped SEVERAL nights) and I cannot say "thank you" enough to those who did--it means SO much!

**I will put a finished product picture up later this week when everyone has received theirs**

Rehearsal Dinner Invitationsü
Thanks to my wonderful sister-in-law we (she) also got these taken care of. They haven't been mailed yet, as we were waiting for the invitations to go out first, but they are in good hands. :)

What's a wedding without koozies, on koozies, on koozies?

Wedding Dress, Veil, Sashü
My dress finally came in a few weeks ago!! I was SO excited to get it, and it still looks just as pretty as I remembered, maybe even prettier!! It fit me like a glove and I didn't want to take it off. It hasn't been altered yet, but hopefully that will happen in the next couple weeks. Also, once it came in, I got to buy/order my sash and veil. Unfortunately, they said the sash wouldn't be done until AFTER my wedding because it is hand-beaded, so I had to buy the one at the store, which was kind of a bummer but oh well. The veil, on the other hand, might be my favorite part of the whole ensemble!! I never knew there were SO many choices in veils and had never really looked at them seriously before. After having my dress on and trying on waaaay too many, I finally ordered a custom one to meet the lengths I wanted and the style I wanted. It is not in yet, but should be in a few weeks!! Aaaah!! So excited to see it!

Anyway, we got these picked out also! We had to make a couple of appointments and order a few in to "try" out, but we finally decided which ones we were going with just last Thursday. We ended up choosing solid black, white undershirts, square toed shoes, silver vests, and coordinating ties in the same colors, just different levels depending on who they were going on. (The wedding party is all the same-more silver; dads are slightly different-more black; Ryan's is slightly different-more white).

Guest Bookü
I may have told you all about this awhile back but I am so excited about it! We decided to go a very nontraditional route and veered away from a typical book and pen, and went for wine corks. Yes folks, wine corks. We are going to have every guest (or family) sign their name on a wine cork in permanent marker and then throw them into a huge vase. We will then have lots of wine corks to decorate our house with...bedroom, living room, kitchen, etc. I was even thinking of trying a Pinterest project to make a "B" out of them if we have enough..isn't that fun? I've been carrying around 10 of them in my purse to test out vases at various stores and I always get a little embarrassed opening it up in front of cashiers--I'm sure they're convinced I'm a drunk wine-o.

We also finally got in all our glassware for the table tops this week. The store we ordered some from had actually put them out on the shelves because they had been there so long and we hadn't picked them up yet--even though we had already paid for it! #brideproblems #notime Nonetheless, we got them and I have some pretty awesome help who has volunteered to take them all and soak them in the treatments that smell like gasoline to get them sparkly clean and smudge free!

Champagne Flutesü
Here I am, thanking Ryan's sister once again. She bought us these awesome champagne flutes for the big day!! Aren't they gorgeous?

Ring Bearer Pillow & Flower Girl Basketü
I had a hard time finding black, but I finally found it online. Now all I have to do is add some snowflakes to the flower girl basket and we're good to go! Aren't they cute?!

We've done really well in this area the last two weekends. Ryan and I have been slaving away and shopping for reception decor every weekend we have free and have come up with some pretty good stuff. My favorite??

These HUGE champagne bottles filled with confetti. Perfect for NYE!

"100% Happy" :)

We've also got some other small (and boring) things done:
flower girl shoes
led lights for vases
snowflakes, snowflakes, and more snowflakes
Christmas lights
..and probably a million other things I don't feel like listing :)

So thank you to everyone who has made this possibe so far and given their time and resources to help it all come together!!

Only 62 more days!!!!

My special thanks this update definitely goes out to Rachel, who has done far more than is expected of her and who has shown what exactly best friends are for over and over again. She is not just there for hours on end doing invitations with me and laughing about how many we have messed up, but also there when I call her at 11pm crying about nonsense. That, my friends, is a true best friend!

And my other thanks goes out to Ryan's sister, Sarah, for all she has done and helped with! Though she is not here physically, she has done SO much for us lately and I cannot say thank you enough--we owe her the world right now!

So thank you--I love you both!

A soon-to-be bride! {bridal shower edition}

This past Sunday I got to experience one of the many perks that comes along with planning a bridal shower!! Honestly, it was the BEST day I had had in a long time. We have had a crazy/stressful month due to several factors and it literally all melted away Sunday at my shower. It was absolutely perfect and just what I needed.

Here's a quick recap of how it all went, along with a few pictures. I will try to post more pics on here as I gather some up..I only had a couple on my phone unfortunately and they're mediocre at best.

The deets...
-My sister Abigal (maid of honor) was the one who put it on with the help of my other bridesmaids.
-It was at the Country Club here in town at 2:00pm on Sunday.
-It was a "pink" theme

The treats...
bottled water
mimosas (yummy!)

The games...
1. How Well do you Know the Bride & Groom? was a game where Abigal asked Ryan and I several random questions prior to the shower (e.g. What is your favorite restaurant? What do you do to celebrate your anniversary every year? etc.) and then asked the guests these questions to test their "knowledge" of us. I was VERY surprised at how well some people did and it was fun to see what everyone came up with on some questions. Even my friend from high school's little girl was answering questions about our cute!:)

2. Bridal Bingo was where the guests were given a traditional blank bingo sheet with their "free" spot in the middle being the gift they gave us. They then filled in the blanks with all the gifts they thought we would receive such as towels, a blender, Keurig, etc. As I opened gifts, they crossed of their squares and and tried to get a bingo!

3. Newlyweds was a game that was only played by me. Basically, Abigal had asked Ryan several questions about himself/us prior to the shower and written all his answers down on poster boards. She then stood behind me, holding up the poster board containing his answers, while she asked me the questions and I had to attempt to guess what he would say. I hate to brag, but I did pretty darn good! I only missed a couple and one of them I'm still arguing with him over..he claims he wanted to be a lawyer when he was little...please. I've never heard him say that ONCE. And between you and I, I'm pretty sure he said it just to look good ;)  Anyway, here's a couple of his questions and answers that stuck out to me...

What would the groom say is the bride’s best feature?
--I was asked this question at our marriage retreat at the church and my answer made Aud’s face turn beat red.  So this time I will go with what she is probably doing now. Her smile.

What was the groom’s favorite date?
-Our 6 year anniversary we went to Iowa City to eat at our favorite restaurant and drive around all of our old stomping grounds.  We drove home in 3 tornadoes and Aud’s hands were sweating from the weather and mine were sweating from what I was about to do.  I unlocked the door and let her go in first and I will never forget the look on her face.

Who is smarter?
-I’m not going to answer this.  Let’s ask the guy who was looking for gold at the road side park in Georgetown.  Or as my brother pointed out….Audrie, he is weed eating. there is a story to this...As Ryan, Curt ,and I were driving one day, we saw a guy at a park who was moving a long stick with a metal piece at the end (weed eater) back and forth. I thought it looked like a metal detector and said "why is that guy looking for gold there? I doubt there is any in that freakin park!" and Curt and Ryan both laughed and Curt said ..."Audrie, he is weed eating".

The prizes...
This was one of my favorite parts of the whole thing. For my prizes, my bridesmaids had asked me what a few of my favorite things were, and that's what was given out as prizes. For example, my favorite wine, favorite lotions/body wash, favorite movie/candy. Isn't that a great idea?! I hope everyone who won enjoys them just as much as I do!

The thanks...
Lastly, and most importantly...I owe all of my day and blessings to the people who came. It wouldn't have been possible without my bridesmaids putting it on, and the people who attended. I know that sounds quite cliche, but anyone that knows me knows that was the the most touching part to me. Honest to God, I was SO surprised by the turnout and felt like the luckiest girl all day long. And as everyone was helping carry gifts to my car and putting away tables and chairs as I was hugging everyone goodbye, I thought I might cry I felt so overwhelmed. I was absolutely showered with love that day--and certainly spoiled with gifts. So thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who certainly made it an experience I will never forget!

giving a wedding update!

Hello!! Before I begin, I want to say I hope you all had wonderful and safe weekends. It seems like the summer temps have officially left us and were in full swing fall around here..which means football...and tailgating :) But no matter how you spent your weekend or beginning of fall, I hope it was fun!

Next is me apologizing for neglecting this poor blog of mine. With school starting back up and our weekends being hectic as of late, it is hard to make any time to blog. But those are all excuses..I will do better! Oh, and Ryan won't be home with me anymore (insert sad face) so I will definitely have more time soon considering I live like a Bachelorette when he's cooking, less laundry and cleaning, etc.

So finally, here are my July and August accomplishments:

Save the Dates ü
I have to start off with my biggest accomplishment--we got Save the Dates sent out!! This was such a relief, I can't even explain! I STILL have 3 I have not sent out because Ryan is in charge of getting their addresses (hmmm) but besides that, they are done, done, done! My bff Rachel and I spent HOURS one night writing addresses on the cards and I've spent HOURS getting all the watching all those go out was such a sigh of relief. Oh, and I'm super happy with how they turned out too :)

Transportation ü
We ended up going with a Limo service that is semi-close to home and I'm so pleased with how it all worked out. We will be providing transportation for the wedding party all day, and also transportation for guests from the reception site to their homes later in the evening through the entire night --remember it is New Year's Eve.

Alcohol ü
Because, lezbehonest, it's important. Thanks to a friend and many days laying out this summer, we got it all figured out--we are offering beer and a liquor assortment. Double check!

Wedding Cake/cupcakes ü

After a few discussions on what to do in this category, Ryan and I decided to go with cupcakes for guests and a small cake for us--the best of both worlds. We did this for a couple reasons. 1) Ryan and I are not big sweets people. I don't think I have ever even made a cake the entire time we've been together. I like brownies on occasion, and Ryan will eat Chocolate Chip cookies sometimes, but we never have them in the house or think about making them, so it doesn't really matter to us either way. 2) Because I have always liked the look of cupcakes scattered on a table and stands as opposed to a wedding cake. And plus, doesn't a cupcake look much better on a plate than a slab of cake falling all over the place?! 3) because we could pick SEVERAL flavors as opposed to just a few. And yes, we went crazy with them! Chocolate with peanut butter filling? Strawberry with lemon cream?

Flower Girl Dress ü
Ryan and I legit spent a whole day searching for the perfect flower girl dress and came up empty handed. In general, I just didn't like the look of ANY I could find. I either wanted something that semi-matched mine, or something very NYE-like and I kept coming up empty handed. Finally, lying in bed one night I got to looking on my phone and found the perfect dress. I sent it to my cousins the next day and asked their opinions, and there it was born...Faye's dress. It certainly is not a traditional flower girl dress, but it is perfect for the occasion and I can't wait for everyone to see it. Oh, and what makes it even more special? When Faye first saw it and got to put it on she said "This is the most beautiful dress I have ever seen" to Ryan. <3 p="p">

Bridesmaids Shoes ü
Found these online and they match the dresses to a I'm happy and hopefully their feet are happy! :)

My Wedding Shoes ü
I also ordered these online and they are gorgeous (in my humble opinion). I seriously get them out and look at them once a day. They match my dress perfectly, and are just very feminine and...perfect. I ordered them in Italian sizing, which obviously is WAY different, but after a few feet measurements and conversion charts, the size that came were the perfect fit. I am a happy girl!

Garter ü
My grandpa passed away when I was in high school, and my mom and her sisters just recently decided to move my grandma into assisted living, as she is no longer able to fully care for herself (though she disagrees). When they were moving her and getting rid of all of her stuff, they stumbled across her wedding box and out came the perfect??

Registering ü
I posted all about this a couple weeks ago; click here to read it.

Bachelorette Party and Bridal Shower Dates Set ü
After talking to all the girls and figuring out what dates work best for everyone, we have decided and reserved everything needed for both events! My Bridal Shower is October 21st, and the Bachelorette Party is November 24th--of course, invites will be going out for these! I can't even lie, those of you that know me, know that I am MORE than excited for the Bachelorette party. :) #partypantson

Decorations ü
Besides all the big things, I have still been on my wedding grind and trying to take care of smaller things along the way. One big, small, thing was ordering vases and candle holders. I ordered these in bulk and literally have filled a guest bedroom with boxes of them!

Last but not least...

Ryan and I have booked our Honeymoon!!! üüüüüüü
Though we are not telling anyone where we are going, I will give you a clue :)

St. Lucia

North Carolina

Bora Bora

It could be any one of those places...or none of them :) But I am SO excited, I cannot wait!! With that, we also have gotten our
Passports ü  (Ryan has his, mine is technically on the way)
swimsuits ü
swim trunks ü
snorkel gear ü

So, I hope that got you all up-to-date on where we are with the wedding planning! It sure is a lot of work, but I wouldn't change my decision for the world. I cannot wait for the day to come! Only 3.5 more months!
